Life as a mompreneur is already a delicate balancing act, but adding a full-time corporate job into the mix takes it to a whole new level. Every day is a whirlwind of activity, multitasking, and moments of gratitude. Here's a glimpse into how I juggle my roles as a mom, entrepreneur, and full-time professional.
Morning Madness: The Day Begins
My day typically starts at 6:00 AM. This early hour is my quiet time to prepare for the day. I begin with a cup of coffee, some light stretches, and a quick review of my goals for the day. Kyra is usually awake from 6:30 AM, latest by 7:00 AM, and ready to start her morning.
After getting myself ready, I head to work while my husband takes charge of getting Kyra ready for school. While she’s busy with her morning play or cartoons, I check emails and respond to urgent work tasks for my corporate job.
Work Hours: Corporate Life in Full Swing
By 8:30 AM, I transition into my corporate role. As an HR & Admin Manager, my work requires focus and precision. I’ve set up a dedicated workspace at home to minimize distractions and stay productive. Throughout the day, I attend virtual meetings, handle employee queries, and manage administrative tasks.
During my lunch break, I’ll often squeeze in tasks for my business, Ahgiya!, such as responding to customer inquiries, managing social media, or updating the website. This one-hour window is precious, and I use it to keep my entrepreneurial goals on track.
Afternoon Hustle: Balancing Responsibilities
Post-lunch, I return to my corporate work while ensuring Kyra’s afternoon is structured. Kyra is usually in school, so post-lunch is definitely a quiet window to focus. However, things slow down a bit if she's home due to falling ill or a school closure. On days when she’s particularly active, I’ve learned to adapt—sometimes working with her by my side.
By mid-afternoon, I check in on Ahgiya!’s operations. This might involve coordinating with suppliers, planning new products, or reviewing delivery schedules. Having a clear plan helps me stay on top of these responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed.
Evening Energy: Family and Business Time
Once my corporate workday ends around 6:30 PM, we usually go out for dinner as a family and enjoy the time catching up on our day. Kyra’s bedtime routine begins around 8:00 PM, which includes a bath, storytime, and cuddles. It’s my favorite part of the day, as I get to unwind and bond with her.
After Kyra is asleep, which my husband usually puts her down for, I start cooking or restocking Ahgiya!'s main items—porridges! This is also when I tackle larger tasks like strategizing marketing campaigns, planning upcoming menus, or brainstorming ideas for blog content. Some nights, I’ll also work on sourcing new products or engaging with customers on social media.
Late-Night Wrap-Up: Reflect and Recharge
By 11:00 PM, I’m winding down. I review my to-do list, plan for the next day, and take a moment to reflect on what I’ve accomplished. Some nights, I’ll treat myself to a good book or a relaxing skincare routine before bed. Lights out by midnight, and then the cycle begins again.
Tips for Balancing It All
-
Time Blocking: Allocating specific times for work, family, and business ensures nothing gets neglected.
-
Prioritize Tasks: Identify the most critical tasks for the day and tackle them first.
-
Delegate: Whether it’s hiring help for your business or involving your partner in household chores, sharing the load is key.
-
Stay Flexible: Parenting and entrepreneurship come with surprises. Be ready to adjust your plans as needed.
-
Self-Care: Even if it’s just 10 minutes, take time for yourself to recharge.
Balancing business, baby, and a full-time corporate job isn’t always easy, but it’s immensely rewarding. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow. With careful planning, a supportive network, and a determined mindset, I’ve found a way to thrive in all my roles. And if I can do it, so can you!
